16-year-old girl accused of suffocating newborn with rock

title=” (Generic Image) “border=” 0 “width=” 180″/ > (Generic Image). DENVER (AP/Meredith)– A 16-year-old girl was accuseded of first-degree murder after she suffocated her newborn baby with a rock, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Workplace.

Alaya Dotson was apprehended in September, 2 days after her child was noticable dead at a hospital, KDVR reports.

The baby was just a few hours old when she died. Court documents mention that Dotson’s mom called 911 and stated her child had actually simply delivered a child which the child was “on the ground in the backyard of their house.”

Dotson informed cops she didn’t know she was pregnant, inning accordance with a likely cause declaration.

The teen reportedly provided her infant in the restroom and took the baby outside afterward. She told investigators the baby fell out of her arms when her mom walked outside and shocked her.

Dotson then confessed to picking up a rock that was on the ground, putting it inside the infant’s mouth, and pushing down her throat, court records state.

The 16-year-old will be tried as a grownup. A preliminary court hearing is set up for Jan. 12.
