61-year-old Las Vegas grandfather trains for the NBA


NBA Summer League is just around the corner and while fans are nervous to pack the Thomas and Mack to find a seat, one Las Vegas grandfather is training to find a roster spot with a group.

“I’m aiming to get myself into shape, much better than I ever have been previously. I’m attempting to enter into the summertime league,” 61-year-old Calvin Roberts said. “I wish to head out against the very best, the youngest. (That) makes me play much better. I just have an objective I have to reach and I’m not going to let anything stand in my method to obtain there.”

Calvin is not the common pro hoops hopeful. He’s been compared versus a few of the very best NBA gamers of perpetuity, including Magic Johnson.

“Playing against him, I heard about him, it was similar to ‘Wow, now we’re going to see exactly what will make me or break me,” Roberts said. “That was the emphasize of my profession I think.”

And as long as there is an NBA group out there that might be interested, I’m going to keep pushing the concern. I’m going to keep driving myself to where I’m going to make an impression on somebody that may provide me a shot or come practice with them, but I’m not quiting.”
