An Academy Acclaimed screenwriter and manufacturer is finishing up a script for a feature film on famous UNLV basketball Coach Jerry Tarkanian, his kid Danny said on Nevada Newsmakers.
Shawn Christensen, who won an Academy Award for best live action short movie for 2012’s “Curfew,” will consult with the Tarkanian family quickly to review the script, Danny Tarkanian stated Thursday.
” He has invested over a year writing the script,” Tarkanian said. “He is simply completing it now. He is concerning Las Vegas in a number of weeks to reveal to it to my mom and the rest of our family.”
Jerry Tarkanian led UNLV to the NCAA championship game in 1990 and took pleasure in a career that spanned 5 years, including 31 seasons at three colleges. He passed away in 2015 and belongs to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Popularity.
The movie, however, will not be a standard bio.
It is the story of “the improvement of Las Vegas” while Jerry Tarkanian took his Runnin’ Rebels to nationwide praise at UNLV from 1973 to 1992, his son said.
It’s too early to hypothesize about who may play the well-known coach, his child said. He said Christensen has talked about some people “who are truly huge, but I do not want to even point out names.”
Danny Tarkanian, who was an all-state quarterback at Bishop Gorman High, was anticipated to play football at UNR but instead played basketball at UNLV for his dad from 1981 to 1984. The Rebels won 24 consecutive games and were ranked No. 1 in the nation throughout his sophomore year.
He is now a Republican candidate for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.
