Authorities: Teen running red light might have triggered fatal northeast Las Vegas scooter crash

A woman driving a motorized scooter passed away after colliding with an automobile near Treasure trove Road and Linn Lane Tuesday afternoon, police stated. The crash took place around 12:39 p.m. in the northeast part of Las Vegas near Nellis Boulevard.

Authorities said the female, 62, was heading north on Linn Lane when a Nissan Sentra, driven by a 17-year-old boy, was heading west. The teenager ran a red light and hit her on her best side, triggering her to strike the pavement. She was required to University Medical Center and died.

Cops said the teen was not impaired and was cooperative at the scene. An 11-year-old kid was a riding in the Nissan with the teenager and suffered a minor injury.

Authorities reminded drivers the significance of stopping at red lights and cautious driving, specifically in locations with property walls that can block views of oncoming traffic.

It was the 133rd traffic death in City’s jurisdiction in 2017.
