Believe recorded, 1 killed after random stabbings in northeast Vegas

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) –

Authorities stated the individual accountable for 2 random stabbings, one of which left a person dead, in the northeast Las Vegas Valley on Wednesday has been captured.

32-year-old Richi Briones was detained near Stone Highway and U.S. 95 just after 7 p.m., cops said. The car he was last seen driving, a tan Toyota minivan lay near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway.

Police credited the many individuals working the case and the numerous suggestions the department got throughout the day which assisted them take Briones into custody.

Lt. Dan McGrath, of Las Vegas Metro authorities, stated the department received a call at about 9:30 a.m. of a person chasing after another person with a knife in the 4300 block of Stewart Avenue. The victim in the pursuit was not injured.

“He approached me as i was dealing with a cars and truck and he said are (you) from the mafia,” composed the victim in a text. “then from no place he took out his (knife) and stated u are from the cartel and attempted to stab me.”

Cops later said the same guy who was equipped with the knife attempted to acquire a shotgun inside a Big 5 Sporting Item shop at 9:35 a.m. in the 4400 block of East Charleston Boulevard. After being denied, the suspect left the shop and then stabbed an individual behind a neighboring sushi dining establishment. The victim in the event was hurt, however his/her condition was not immediately divulged.

Witnesses stated the victim was performing upkeep outside the dining establishment when he was arbitrarily stabbed.

Authorities were likewise able to link Briones to the incident due to the details on the guns application.

Police then received a call of a stabbing inside the AM/PM convenience store in the 500 block of North Lamb Boulevard at 10:49 a.m. The victim, who was a person working behind a counter, died as a result of the stabbing.

Police ruled out terrorism in the event, McGrath said.

Clark County School District verified soft lockdowns at Edwards Elementary School, which is at 4551 Diamond Head Dr., and Moore Elementary School, which is at 491 N. Lamb Blvd., related to the search.
