CCSD addresses school bus security after fatal crash


Clark County School District authorities dealt with Friday the present state of the district’s transport offerings after a school bus crash left a Valley granny dead and hurt 16 other kids.

The crash included a school bus that was visiting Bailey Intermediate school at about 8:30 a.m. According to police, the bus struck a 2000 Ford Taurus at the crossway situated in the northeast Las Vegas Valley.

Police said the bus was heading south on Nellis crossing Carey with a thumbs-up, when the Ford, heading east on Carey, ran a traffic signal, hitting the school bus on its best side, crushing the driver’s side of the cars and truck. The bus tipped clockwise and ran the best side of the road, south of Carey, crashing through a chain-link fence, and landing on its left side. Kids on the bus got out through the leading hatches and the emergency rear door, inning accordance with authorities.

The crash resulted in the death of the female chauffeur of the Taurus and crucial injuries to the car’s juvenile guest.

Inning accordance with her household, Maria Castillo, 70, was owning the Taurus. Her 10-year-old granddaughter, Priscilla Gomez, was likewise inside. The household said Maria was owning Priscilla to school.

University Medical Center authorities verified kids were sent out to the pediatric emergency clinic of the hospital. They explained injuries to all bus residents as non-life threatening. Injuries varied from head injuries, knee injuries, a tooth that went through a cheek, a damaged arm and cuts.

“Everyone needs to accept their enjoyed ones due to the fact that tomorrow’s not assured to any person at all,” Tineysha Jones, a mother who had three children on the bus stated. “The lady in the cars and truck, our prayers go out to her and her household too.” “I in fact had the ability to see one of the little women that pulled my son out. It’s just psychological for everyone.”

“I was so pleased to see my infants. (My kid) hopped over the fence, he was on the gurney, the police wouldn’t let me speak to my children so you can just envision seeing your baby however not having the ability to touch him, see him, understand exactly what I suggest? It was crazy,” another mom said.

“I thought it was a dream or something. It was s problem, I didn’t understand if it was genuine. Everybody was weeping, devastated, it was a lot,” Tiawan, an eighth-grader who was on the bus said.
