Coroner determines bicyclist eliminated in Friday night crash

The Clark County coroner’s office on Sunday determined a 33-year-old bicyclist eliminated after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Sahara Opportunity Friday night.

Jeffrey Gonzales of Las Vegas died a brief time after the crash at University Medical Center.

Metro said the accident took place about 11:40 p.m. Gonzales was on a mountain bicycle and crossing Sahara at the intersection of Mohawk Street when he was hit by a yellow 2008 Hyundai Accent driven by Abraham Lebron Jr.

. Lebron Jr. initially left the scene, but turned himself in a short time later on, Metro said.

He is facing a DUI charge and a charge for not rendering aid after a crash. He was reserved at the Clark County Detention Center where he stayed Sunday.
