Fallen officer Hartfield'' s mom dies two days after his funeral service

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) –

2 days after Officer Charleston Hartfield’s funeral service, his mother passed away from a cardiovascular disease.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Policeman Hartfield died in the 1 October shooting. On the day of his funeral, his mom, Sheryl Stiles suffered a cardiac arrest, fell down an escalator and passed away the 2 days later.

“Just ravaged by this,” Stiles’ cousin Cecil Ralston said. “It’s unexpected.”

“I was staying up in the space sobbing,” Lewis Stiles, Sheryl Stiles’ sibling stated. “We came to bury my nephew then the next thing we know, I need to bury my sister.”

Lewis Stiles said he pertained to Las Vegas from Louisville to support his sibling Sheryl Stiles for a mournful event, participating in the funeral of her son Charleston Hartfield. Hartfield was one of the 58 individuals killed during the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

“It was necessary due to the fact that it was my sibling’s boy,” Lewis stated. “We has a great deal of family from Louisville that came.”

Lewis stuck with his cousin Cecil Ralston and everyone else remained at a neighboring hotel. The funeral was Friday, which they said was a stunning service, but later, the mourning didn’t end there.

“She was on the escalator and she had a cardiac arrest,” said Ralston. “She fell and sustained brain injuries.”

Sheryl was placed on life support, however the Clark County Coroner confirmed that she died 2 days later, after suffering from pulmonary arrest and severe cardio infarction.

Her family stated they believe she died from a broken heart.

“I talked to the chaplain of Metro,” Ralston said. “He informed me she kept saying ‘Oh I want to remain, I wish to be with Charleston,’ that she wanted to pass away.”

Now the male who accompanied his sis for assistance, is remembering her with love, while looking for a way to get her back house.

“My sister was extremely outgoing,” Lewis said. “She was a dynamic person who had a lot of good friends that enjoyed her business.”

The next action is to obtain her body cremated and returned back to Louisville where the rest of Hartfield’s moms side of the family lies, but it costs about $1,000 to do that.

The family has been raising money to do that on GoFundMe account. To make a contribution, click here. Copyright 2017 KVVU (KVVU Broadcasting Corporation). All rights reserved.
