Prentice Marshall, who had been facing the death sentence in the slaying of a Metro officer, pleaded guilty Monday to murder and break-in charges.
In a last-minute deal with prosecutors, Marshall got in a plea to 8 counts including first-degree murder, burglary, and theft in connection with the November 2009 slaying of Las Vegas police officer Trevor Nettleton.
Marshall is anticipated to get a sentence of life in jail without the possibility of parole.
North Las Vegas authorities state Marshall and 3 others were driving around when they saw the garage door of Nettleton’s North Las Vegas home open.
Nettleton, who had actually simply completed his patrol shift, was inside. During an attempted burglary of Nettleton, a gun battle took place. Marshall was shot in the testicles, and Nettleton was shot and killed by Marshall, authorities stated.
