Jason Aldean wins entertainer of the year at ACM Awards; commemorates shooting victims

Jason Aldean paid tribute to the victims of the enormous shooting at a country music celebration during his approval speech after being called performer of the year at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards.

“It’s been a rough year,” Aldean said throughout the event in Las Vegas, thanking those “that showed us love and assistance over the last 6 months.”

Miranda Lambert stated the world can be “joined through the recovery power of music,” while Luke Bryan stated “music assists us remember what actually matters in life.” At the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Maren Morris said music “makes us stronger” and Thomas Rhett stated music provides us “an opportunity to rejoice.”

Aldean closed the psychological minute, saying in respect to the victims and music fans, “we celebrate the music tonight. America, this is your ACM Awards.”

The ACMs also marked a crucial night for Chris Stapleton, who missed out on the show due to the fact that his partner, Morgane, brought to life twins. Sunday was also the vocalist’s 40th birthday.

Stapleton, the leading nominee with eight, won male singer of the year and album of the year, where he won twice as a singer and producer.

It ties Leroy Van Dyke’s “Walk On By” as the 3rd longest-running song of all-time on the chart.

The longest-running No. 1 tune of all-time on the country charts, Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” won single record of the year at the ACMs; Hunt didn’t go to the program.

Little Big Town sang Elton John’s “Rocket Guy” in celebration of the icon’s new album, “Remediation,” which features nation vocalists covering his tunes. Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina were remarkable when they sang their duet, “Exactly what Ifs.” Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Kelsea Ballerini, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum and Dierks Bentley also carried out.

McEntire, who carried out with Kelly Clarkson, hosted the three-hour show a year after Bryan and Bentley got the job done.

“It takes one woman to do the task of 2 males,” she said, making a rousing applause.

Old Dominion won vocal group of the year, besting Little Big Town and Woman Antebellum.
