Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman is endorsing Republican Rep. Joe Heck in his bid for Senate.

Goodman said Monday that Heck has served Las Vegas homeowners as part of a cops search and rescue team and as a physician at University Medical Center, in addition to in Congress.

Heck is running against Democratic previous Nevada Chief law officer Catherine Cortez Masto for the seat being left by long time Democratic Sen. Harry Reid. The race is expected to be close.

Goodman is a signed up nonpartisan but has actually previously registered as a Democrat. She endorsed Democratic state Sen. Ruben Kihuen for Congress last week, and her husband previously endorsed Democratic former Rep. Shelley Berkley in her 2012 Senate bid versus Republican Dean Heller.
