MEMPHIS, Tenn.– Memphis has named an area of a hectic city street after late bluesman B.B. King.

A street indicator was unveiled Wednesday to mark the renaming of an approximately 3-mile stretch of Third Street to B.B. King Boulevard. Third Street, a key Memphis road, ultimately ends up being U.S. Freeway 61, which is also called the Blues Trail.

King died Might 14 in hospice care in the house in Las Vegas at age 89. Wednesday would have been his 90th birthday.

King, a guitar master and vocalist from Itta Bena, Mississippi, performed in and lived in Memphis during his career.
