LAS VEGAS( FOX5)-. Las Vegas City cops stated a single person was killed in a lethal head-on crash that also included a 3rd automobile in west Las Vegas Tuesday morning. The occurrence took place at 8:47 a.m. near Buffalo Drive and Alta Drive. Metro traffic bureau Sergeant Paul McCullough validated a senior woman in her 60’s was discovered deceased at the scene by arriving officers.
McCullough said the initial examination indicated that a Honda Civic taking a trip northbound on Buffalo Drive lost control for “unknown reasons” on the roadway and crossed over the center typical onto inbound traffic.
The Civic struck the left front of a Kia Rio traveling southbound on Buffalo Drive resulting in a head-on crash, police said.
Police said the collision triggered the Rio to turn in the travel lanes and was struck on the passenger side by a Ford E350 cargo van that was also taking a trip southbound on Buffalo Drive.
Officers have not identified why the Civic lost control and they pointed out problems was not believed.
Both chauffeurs of the Civic and Rio were transported to University Medical Center. The elderly woman was a guest in the Rio and was officially pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
” They are going to be fine, they suffered some minor injuries,” said McCullough concerning the condition of the two motorists.
The crossway was closed for a couple of hours pending the investigation, cops said.
Inning accordance with cops, witnesses told officers they saw a lorry engaging in a “speed contest” with the Civic prior to the crash.
This is the 85th traffic casualty in City’s jurisdiction for 2017.
