Officer hurt, another individual killed in east Las Vegas shooting

An officer was hurt and another person was eliminated throughout a shooting at an apartment building in east Las Vegas on Saturday evening.

The shooting happened at 6:11 p.m. at the Oasis Ridge Apartments near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Mojave Roadway.

According to Las Vegas Metro, officers were called to the apartment complex to investigate a break-in and battery with a lethal weapon occurrence inside a system.

While officers were on scene a guy came out of a surrounding unit that wasn’t involved in the investigation and consulted with officers. The guy then returned inside his home and brought out a handgun.

The man raised the gun at a officers and fired, striking one officer below the eye. Other officers returned fire and the suspect was killed.

Lt. Ken Romane with LVMPD stated the officer suffered small injuries and was taken to University Medical Center for treatment. The officer has given that been released.

According to LVMPD’s Captain Christopher Tomaino, the victim in the preliminary call was delivered to UMC. The condition of that individual is unidentified.

Officers at the scene told FOX5 that homicide investigators were examining the death of the suspect. During the investigation, the gun made use of by the suspect was identified to be a kind of pellet gun.
