2 arrested in fatal shooting inside SUV caught on video

Two males have been apprehended in the deadly shooting of a man whose death was captured on video at an east valley apartment or condo last month, according to Metro Cops scheduling logs.

Matthew Johnson, 21, and Brandon Webb, 20, on Thursday were jailed on murder and robbery counts, prison logs show.

They’re implicated in the Feb. 19 slaying of Yaphette Johnson, a 24-year-old who was shot as he beinged in an older model Ford Expedition in 4600 block of Vegas Valley Drive, near Boulder Highway, police stated.

Officers found his body about 9:45 a.m. that day, about three hours after the shooting, cops said.

Las Vegas Metro authorities responded at about 8:15 p.m. to a taxicab carjacking at Las Vegas Boulevard and Carson Avenue, near Fremont Street, Lt. Jeff Goodwin, of City police, stated. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Nathaniel Goldsmith, triggered at least three crashes in the downtown area.

Nevada Highway Patrol located Goldsmith near Craig Roadway and Las Vegas Boulevard.

Goldsmith drove the taxi northbound on I-15 and deserted the vehicle in the left travel lane of the highway near Craig Roadway, according to Trooper Jason Buratczuk.

Goldsmith was running in traffic and aiming to carjack other automobiles unsuccessfully, but ultimately left the area on foot, Buratczuk said.

While traffic was stopped, Goldsmith got on the back of a semi-trailer, North Las Vegas Authorities PIO Eric Leavitt stated. He ended up at the Petro truck station near the Las Vegas Speedway where clerks called police on a man triggering problems. North Las Vegas authorities jailed Goldsmith without incident and he was moved into City’s custody.

Leavitt said Goldsmith was possibly under the influence and was unarmed.

He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for burglary, attempted break-in, battery with a deadly weapon, and grand larceny.

This was the third reported carjacking event in the previous 24 Hr. A UNLV student was injured in a carjacking near campus right before midday, while authorities said another carjacker stole a USPS automobile and later on abandoned it.

Male arrested after shooting in strip club parking area

East Las Vegas parents arrested for murder of malnourished child

LAS VEGAS( FOX5)-. Police jailed the parents of a five-month-old child Wednesday after the child was discovered “seriously malnourished” and passed away at a Las Vegas health center today, Metro Authorities said.

Officers were called to a home on the 5700 block of East Hacienda Avenue, and to Dawn Hospital to investigate possible abuse or overlook on Feb. 25, authorities stated.

Medical staff informed cops that the child seemed malnourished, and was noticable dead at the healthcare facility, authorities said.

The child lived at the house with mother Loreana Martinez, 24, and daddy Anthony Oceja, 29, along with two siblings. The brother or sisters were taken into protective custody and were “being examined for potential health issues,” authorities said. Three canines were also found “significantly malnourished” and were committed Clark County Animal Control.

Investigators arrested Oceja and Martinez on charges of murder, child abuse/ disregard as well as three animal abuse charges.
