was born. (Facebook). (Meredith)– A young daddy in Arkansas smothered his baby child– and then attempted to restore the girl by shocking her with a live extension cord, authorities said. Tyler Buchanan, 19, was charged Monday with capital murder in the death of his 2-month-old child, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. Buchanan at first told detectives the infant girl, named Presley, awakened around 5:30 a.m. on June 12, so he fed her a bottle and she returned to sleep. He apparently stated that when he awakened later, he recognized his daughter was not breathing. He then cut off the end of an extension cable and attempted to use it stun her back to life, according to a likely cause affidavit.
The 19-year-old later admitted to holding the woman’s head against his shoulder to stop her from breathing due to the fact that she was shouting and he wished to sleep. Buchanan also told officers he knew his actions were wrong, the affidavit states.
He stated he smothered the child around 2 a.m. and never ever called 911. The child’s mother ultimately called police when she woke up at 9 a.m. and saw her infant not breathing.
The baby was noticable dead at a healthcare facility in Van Buran.
Buchanan is being held in the Crawford County prison without bond.
