Police: Boyfriend charged after woman '' toppled ' down stairs to her death in northeast valley

Coroner: Female passes away weeks after ex-boyfriend choking arrest

The Clark County coroner said today that Stella Martinez passed away Friday at Summerlin Medical facility of brain injuries following the June 3 incident. Her death was ruled a murder.

Cops state a patrol officer reacting to a report of a man aiming to break into a home saw 41-year-old Christopher Wood assaulting and choking Martinez on the ground in the backyard.

Martinez was hospitalized for nearly 3 weeks before she died.

Authorities reacted to the 6500 block of Bourbon Method, near Alta and Torrey Pines Drives, at about 6:40 a.m. as they found a woman bleeding in the street.

Officers reported the female had a head injury and damaged leg at the scene. She was carried to the University Medical Center however later died from her injuries.

Authorities said she was apparently run over by her sweetheart who was owning a motorhome.

The investigation was managed by deadly detail, according to City, as preliminary reports had the occurrence as an accident.
