SYDNEY– Johnny Depp’s spouse, Amber Heard, has actually been charged with unlawfully bringing the couple’s pet dogs to Australia.
Prosecutors on Thursday said that Heard was charged this week with two counts of unlawfully importing Pistol and Boo into Australia and one count of producing a false document.
The charges come 2 months after the nation’s agriculture minister bought the pooches to leave or deal with death.
They carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail and fines of more than 100,000 Australian dollars ($74,000).
The doggie debacle began in May, after Farming Minister Barnaby Joyce accused Depp of smuggling the pets aboard his private jet when he went back to Australia to resume recording of the fifth film in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series.
Heard has a Sept. 7 court date.
