Teen girl struck in crosswalk by hit and run driver in east Las Vegas

a marked crosswalk Sunday night in east Las Vegas. Las Vegas Metro authorities said the unidentified 15-year-old girl was crossing East Treasure trove Road, near Honolulu Street, at 9:38 p.m. when she was struck by a 2006 Chrysler 300. The Chrysler was traveling west on Bonanza Road.

The motorist of the Chrysler, 18-year-old Hannah Burks, failed to stop after striking the girl and got away the scene, authorities said. Officers added that Burks likewise cannot notify police.

The victim was carried to University Medical Center with severe injuries.

Officers later on located Burks using the home address noted on the Chrysler’s registration. Burks was jailed for hit and run charges.

Teenager fails to utilize crosswalk, hit and eliminated in west Las Vegas

Police were called about 7:13 p.m., Sgt. Robert Stauffer said. A group of children were dipping into the skate park in Desert Breeze park when they crossed the street beyond a marked crosswalk to go to McDonald’s. A number of others were ahead of the victim, recognized by the Clark County Coroner’s Workplace as Alani Hill, who was aiming to capture up, the kids informed authorities.

A number of witnesses stated Hill crossed against the light when a Variety Rover driving north in the center lane of Durango Drive struck him. He fell onto the roadway and moved to a stop, according to an LVMPD release. Hill passed away at the scene.

The driver remained on scene and was not impaired, police said.

Cops said the crossway was closed in all 4 directions. This is the 16th traffic-related death in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2018.

Pedestrian, 89, eliminated in Stone Highway crosswalk

An 89-year-old pedestrian was struck in the southeast valley this morning, marking the 35th traffic fatality including a pedestrian in City Authorities’s jurisdiction this year, officials said.

Officers and medics were dispatched about 9 a.m. to Boulder Highway and Desert Horizons Drive, police stated.

The individual was struck while in a crosswalk, police said. More information were not immediately available.

This was the 45th auto-pedestrian death on Stone Highway because 2006, which totals up to almost 10 percent of auto-pedestrian deaths in Nevada.

One of many enhancements to make pedestrian crossing more secure at Stone Highway debuted today with a crossing along the road at Sun Valley Drive, near the Eastside Cannery.

Requiring to Twitter after the crash, City’s traffic bureau said that out of the 79 overall traffic fatalities it’s examined so far in 2017, about 90 percent have been caused by “human mistake,” being DUI, no safety belt, speeding, cannot yield or not paying attention.

In another Tweet, the firm alerted motorists to “keep your eyes up, look ahead, concentrate on the roadway and not your phone,” adding that “79 individuals should not be dead. Those who eliminated them have much to deal with.”
