BOULDER CITY, NV (FOX5) –
A male who barricaded himself inside an armored car near the Hoover Dam Bridge Bypass on U.S. Highway 93 was nabbed by Arizona authorities Friday afternoon.
Mathew P. Wright, 30, of Henderson, deals with several charges consisting of blockage of a highway, endangerment, unlawful flight from police, misconduct involving a weapon and terrorist acts. Wright was scheduled into the Mohave County Jail, inning accordance with a release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Nevada Highway Patrol reacted to reports of the barricade on the Pat Tillman memorial bridge around 12 p.m. Cannon fodder Jason Buratczuk said the guy was potentially equipped with a rifle and was obstructing all southbound traffic lanes. Arizona Highway Patrol, Boulder City cops and Las Vegas Metropolitan Cops and National Park Service Police were also responding to the event.
“We’re in a traveler location and you hear someone possibly with a long rifle, I mean the scars are still, you know, pretty fresh from 1 October.”
Inning accordance with Buratczuk, the guy was seen waving handcrafted indication reading, “launch the OIG report.”
The guy tried to drive down the United States 93 in the “homemade armored lorry,” when he ran over spike strips causing three of the automobile’s tires to deflate.
Wright was obstructed by a semi-truck then turned around and drove into a wash trail where he was collared by Arizona authorities without occurrence.
Authorities found a rifle and pistol inside the truck, the release stated.
“We are delighted that the partnership and cooperation between all agencies included resulted in the successful and safe conclusion to this occurrence,” AZDPS Captain Brian Swanty said.
NHP said authorities evacuated all pedestrians and cars off the bridge and shutdown the roadway to traffic while consisting of the scene.
Chris Vasquez was on vacation with his family. He discovered the traffic and barriers on the bridge.
“The first thing that comes to mind is what occurred in the shooting out here in Vegas. That’s the very first thing. We come out here simply to holiday, you know, which’s type of like ‘wow,'” Vasquez stated.
