Professor shot, killed in his office at Delta State; campus on lock down

JACKSON, Miss.– A teacher was shot and killed on Monday at Delta State University in Mississippi, a county coroner said, and the school stayed locked down after reports of an active shooter on campus.

The university, located in Cleveland, Mississippi, verified a casualty on its Twitter account and asked those on school to stay within and away from windows.

The Bolivar County Coroner stated the shooting victim was a male professor. The victim remained in his office at the time of the shooting, Roark stated, adding that the shooter remains at large.

The suspect remained on the loose, the Clarion-Ledger newspaper reported, pointing out the Cleveland Police Department.
