UNLV Jazz Hosts “” Basically Ellington”” SW Regional Festival Jan. 31-Feb. 1

The UNLV School of Music department of jazz research studies hosts the Las Vegas Basically Ellington South West Regional Celebration Jan. 31-Feb.1, 2019, in Artemus Ham Concert Hall. Essentially Ellington co-produces noncompetitive, education-focused celebrations designed to provide high school jazz bands of all levels the chance to carry out the music of Duke Ellington and other seminal huge band composers and arrangers. Taking part bands receive expert feedback from clinicians and other jazz specialists in their own yard.

The celebration is sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center, allure Outreach Initiative, UNLV, and Thomas Bridge.

Las Vegas-native Kenny Rampton– acclaimed trumpeter and member of allure at Lincoln Center Orchestra directed by Wynton Marsalis– has dedicated to be a clinician for the festival.

Jazz at Lincoln Center artist Vincent Gardner, jazz trombonist, and welcomed visitors are carrying out at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, with the UNLV Latin Jazz Ensemble, directed by Uli Geissendoerfer. Rampton, famous jazz drummer Butch Miles and unique guests are performing with UNLV Jazz Ensemble I, conducted by Dave Loeb and Nathan Tanouye at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2019.

General admission tickets are $10, senior citizens and military with ID are $8 and offered at the Carrying out Arts Center siteor by calling 702-895-ARTS (2787 ). CCSD, UNLV and CSN and participating trainees are complimentary with ID.
