Police: Henderson filling station staff member shoots 3 of his coworkers, killing 1

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) –

A shooting at a gasoline station in Henderson left someone dead and 2 others hurt Friday.

Henderson law enforcement officer responded to reports of shots fired at 9:50 a.m. at the Terrible Herbst convenience store and gas station on Sundown Roadway at Annie Oakley Drive. Henderson Cops Officer Rodrigo Peña stated three people were shot.

Two of the victims were transferred to Sunrise Healthcare facility in important condition, inning accordance with authorities. The third victim was transferred to Henderson Health center with gunshot injuries.

Among the victims later on died at the medical facility, police stated. Family members informed FOX5 the victim’s name was Zachary Ragusa. His household said he was 18 years of ages who operated at Terrible Herbst as a smog check specialist. They stated he loved playing hockey, listening to heavy metal and viewing the New York Jets. He was an honor student, a Christian and had no opponents, they stated.

The suspect, 22-year-old Rafael Valdez was a worker at Awful Herbst. After the shooting, the victims, who are likewise employees, stated Valdez escaped. He was discovered and jailed on the 2800 block of North Green Valley Parkway.

Authorities said they did not believe there was a second suspect and stated no hazard stayed to the general public.

Valdez was booked on one count of murder with a fatal weapon, two counts of attempted murder and three counts of attempted burglary.

Cops said preliminary reports of the shooting being linked to a carjacking in the location were unproven.

Marshall Crowder, who operates at the flower shop across the street, was inside the Awful Herbst to spend for his gas when he witnessed the shooting.

“In broad daylight? In the early morning? A shooting? In Henderson? That do not really sound right,” he stated. “I ran to the doors to make sure they was locked, to lock the doors. I wasn’t about to sit there and let him can be found in and barricade himself inside there with us!”

Another female, who works at the gasoline station, said she was very close with the suspect and good friends with the victims. She asked to stay anonymous and said she still does not believe Valdez might do something like this.

“I called. I had to ensure my fellow cashiers were okay. I needed to make sure my supervisor was all right,” she wept. “This doesn’t make any sense. He’s not like that. He listens. He cares. There’s no way … My mind is blank. It’s just not processing yet.”

Awful Herbst launched the following statement.

Terrible Herbst is working together completely as the Henderson Police Department examines this matter. We are grateful they responded so quickly. Our wholehearted compassion heads out to our staff members and their households who are affected by this incident. We have supplied and will continue to offer counseling services to our Awful Herbst household.

Officers were asking for more witnesses to come forward for the investigation.

Chauffeurs were prompted to avoid the location on Sunset Road between Annie Oakley Drive and Green Valley Parkway as authorities continued the investigation.

Las Vegas Metro police helped with the examination. It was the 2nd homicide in Henderson in 2018.

Kidnapped lady gets away thanks to assist from filling station clerk

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) –

A BP gasoline station clerk is being hailed as a hero after assisting prevent a potential kidnapping of a 42-year-old lady in Missouri.

The clerk informed police that the woman ran into the store and informed the associate to call 911. When deputies got here the female informed authorities she was kidnapped from a subdivision in Franklin County, near St. Louis.

The victim identified the suspect as 36-year-old Russell E. Deshields, who she had an order of defense versus during the time of the occurrence.

She stated she fulfilled Deshields in the neighborhood where he reportedly took her car keys and broke her cell phone.

He required her into the automobile after making hazards to eliminate her, inning accordance with police. He then drove her into a nearby town where she encouraged him to stop at the gasoline station.

The clerk said the man remained really near the female, ensuring she didn’t get out of his vehicle.

“You could not even get a hand in between them. I saw it and watched them through the entire thing,” stated the clerk.

While inside the shop, the lady strolled to the clerk’s counter asking which cigarettes were on sale.

“I told her, and she simply kind of mumbled to me and said help me actually low. She goes, ‘He is aiming to eliminate me,'” the clerk said. “I did not know what he was going to do, but understood we needed to get her to safety.”

The clerk required the lady to go into the gasoline station’s workplace as the clerk followed behind. The lady informed her that Deshields forced her into a lorry and guaranteed to drive it off a bridge if she didn’t cooperate.

“You can inform it was true because she had black marks on her hand and her arm,” said the clerk.

After returning to the counter, the clerk said Desheild lacked the shop while the lady remained locked in the office.

On Monday, deputies reacted to the Deshields house in Sullivan after getting a call that he was there. During a search of the home, deputies situated Deshields concealing under a bed.

He was taken into custody and transported to a Franklin County prison.

A warrant was forwarded to the Franklin County Prosecuting Lawyer’s Workplace and an arrest warrant was issued on Russell Deshields for Kidnapping.

His bond is set at $100,000 cash just.

Las Vegas police investigate shooting at filling station

Las Vegas Metro police stated a man was taken to University Medical Center Friday afternoon following a shooting at a gas station.

According to the department’s Lt. Michael Montel, the shooting happened after 5 p.m. at a Chevron station located at the crossway of North Durango and Westcliff drives.

Montel said police think 2 people got into an argument at the pumps and a shot was fired, striking the victim in the hip.

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Montel said the shooter ran away the scene, and officers were searching for a late model car with front-end damage.
