VIRGINIA CITY– The 29th Yearly World Champion Outhouse Races are running this weekend in Virginia City.
The two-day occasion is scheduled rain or shine both today and Sunday on C Street in the historical mining town southeast of Reno.
Organizers state the custom goes back to the day when outdoor pipes was forbidden and mad citizens took their outhouses to the streets in protest.
The Reno Gazette Journal reports teams set up to race their so-called pot-rods this year down the hill to a toilet-paper goal include the “Flapper Crapper,”” Bar Stool “and”
Commando Commode.” The competition starts at twelve noon every day and runs till about 3 p.m.
