Ben Harris freestyling

Editor’s Note: As Robin Leach covers his conventional summer vacation under the Tuscan sun in Italy and moves onto explore Croatia, many of our Strip personalities have advance in his absence to pen their words of wisdom.

We continue today with singer Sherry Gordy of the legendary Motown household (her daddy, Berry Gordy Jr., established Motown), and DJ Ben Harris, who gets the crowd ready nighttime for Terry Fator at the Mirage. Right here’s Ben, stepping out from behind his wheels of steel:

Hey, guys, it’s your friend Ben Harris here filling in for Robin Leach. I want to start out by thanking him for this terrific opportunity … to talk about myself. LOL!

Last year, I wrote about all the cool benefits of carrying out with a headlining program on the Las Vegas Strip. This time, I wish to let you in on all the new material I’m launching this summer, however, prior to I can do that, I in fact do have to tell you about a couple of perks of my life.

Thanks to Terry Fator, I got my indoor skydive on for the very first time. It looked simple however absolutely was not. I believe this picture is the 1 second that I had it right. Shout out to the valuable staff at Vegas Indoor Skydiving!

We’ve been touring to some cool cities when not at the Mirage. I saw Niagara Falls for the very first time during sound check last week. It’s so cool to see nature placing on such an effective show.

When not carrying out with Terry, I have actually been working hard writing, tape-recording and mixing myself in the house inside my studio. This summertime, I’m taking it back to my hip-hop roots where I started in Arizona as “Ol’ Environment-friendly Eyes.”

I created the alias while earning my broadcast journalism degree at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School. I delighted in hosting, anchoring and writing music for the school TV station as “Ben Harris” while performing and hosting my underground hip-hop radio program as “Ol’ Eco-friendly.”

Here’s a current clip of me freestyling survive 98.5 KLUC. Rapping starts at 2:00.

The first single off the brand-new task is produced by DJ Mustard and has to do with my favorite part of the female body. Listen right here.

We simply finished shooting the music video for the follow-up single to be launched later on this summer. With my bro Kaelan behind the video camera and my partner Natalia co-starring, it was certainly an enjoyable family project. We are huge fans of “Breaking Bad,” so if you are, too, you will certainly love the style. I was driving around my neighborhood and discovered how much the Recreational vehicles and desert surroundings reminded me of the show.

So I rose and knocked on the door with the best natural background, and, just like that, we had our set!

I likewise just produced a non-hip-hop song I composed for my partner, “Wrapped Up.” I did a surprise performance of this song, then suggested right after inside Terry Fator Theater. She thought she was concerning a rehearsal. Got her!

It was picked for a nationwide Love Song Compilation provided by Tune Core. The music on the recording is the actual live performance from the Terry Fator Band as we amazed her. I cannot lie. My voice was a little unsteady, so I rerecorded my vocals in the studio. You can get it on iTunes or listen right here.

We are currently shooting the video with John Cha of Club Killers. We’re doing our typical “date day” thing, including taking our little Yorkie, Hen, to the park, then cruising/hiking through Red Rock Canyon. I’m delighted to mix in the live proposal and wedding video.

Have a terrific summer, and come join us inside the stunning air-conditioning-filled Terry Fator Theater at the Mirage.

The fifth-annual Electric Daisy Carnival has ended after three nights (Friday through Sunday) at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. An approximated 404,000 participants– 134,000 on Friday, 135,000 on Saturday and 135,000 on Sunday– gathered to celebrate music, art, creativity, self-expression and peace, love, unity and regard.

For the second successive year, EDC Las Vegas ended on a high note (musically, to be crystal clear) with a set by leading worldwide DJ Calvin Harris. Yes, he’s a homeowner at Hakkasan Group (Hakkasan and Wet Republic at MGM Grand and Omnia at Caesars Palace), however top-notch performances in mega-nightclubs are dwarfed by the raised and electrifying sets at EDC.

Harris most likely drew the largest crowd of the weekend at his Sunday evening set in Kinetic Field, and it didn’t disappoint with fans singing and dancing along to hit after hit– “Feel So Close,” “Summer,” “We Discovered Love,” “Blame,” “Bounce,” “Let’s Go,” “We’ll Be Coming Back,” “Sweet Absolutely nothing,” “Considering You,” “I Need Your Love,” “Outside” and more.

One excited tank-top-wearing male fan nearby shouted, “Calvin Harris is the man!” The 60,000 individuals in Kinetic Field– and Taylor Swift– most likely concur. (I wanted to remain for Alesso and Tiesto, but this journalist needed to be bright-eyed and pleasant for work Monday early morning.)

Prior to the night and 2015 EDC Las Vegas weekend ended, a final walk-through of the 8 stages reminded of how unbelievable and distinct each phase was this year at LVMS. Kinetic Field was the main phase, and where the majority of the weekend was spent, however Circuit Premises advised of many gay clubs throughout the years in San Francisco and West Hollywood (and that’s a good thing), and Waste Land seemed like a real rave in a deserted commercial park (was this set used in “Go”?).

Likewise, Bass Pod, with its “Star Wars”-esque design, was overrun my attractive guys putting on only vibrant and tight briefs (and that’s a good idea); Neon Garden’s centerpiece was a gorgeous moving chandelier; and Cosmic Meadow was huge, loud and proud. Funk Residence and Phase 7, powered by 7UP (one couldn’t miss out on the green lights) rounded out the eight phases.

Maverick Helicopters delivered VIPs to Las Vegas Motor Speedway heliport, and contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was onsite for arrivals and departures. He recorded Afrojack, Flosstradamus, Above & & Beyond, Dubfire, Apollo, Avicii, Armin Van Buuren, Art Department, Carnage, Snake, Kaskade, Martin Garrix, Tiesto, Nicky Romero, Dada Life, Alesso, Dimitri Vegas & & Like Mike, Flume and Pasquale Rotella and Holly Madison (sporting a long, pink wig).

The EDC Wedding Chapel welcomed fans looking to commemorate love and relationship through enjoyable or legal nuptials. Seventy-four legal events happened in the church situated in the humble district of EDC Town. The small EDC town consisted of a movie theater, saloon, speakeasy and working Post Office.

During the EDC Live Stream broadcast on Yahoo, fans tuned in from across the globe to enjoy DJ sets, behind-the-scenes video and more. The live stream aired on tvs throughout Brazil as Insomniac announced that EDC is making its way to Sao Paulo for the first time from Dec. 4-5 at Autodromo de Interlagos.

The EDC Live Stream consisted of surprises, among them Kaskade spinning a surprise visitor set atop the Mayan Warrior Art Vehicle, Garrix signing up with Julian Jordan’s efficiency and Diplo DJ’ing along with 4B on the 7UP Phase. Surprise visitors on Sunday night consisted of Dillon Francis at Cosmic Meadow and Hot Considering that 82 at Neon Garden.

Throughout EDC Week and the festival, winners of the very first EDC Week Charity Auction hung out in a VIP cabana with Rotella and Madison, made sushi with Krewella at Nobu and took a selfie with Hardwell onstage. The auction raised an estimated $70,000 for Culture Shock Las Vegas, a nonprofit committed to steering youth far from drug abuse, violence and hatred through performance art and dance.

Data from Las Vegas Metro Police for 6 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday: 6 misdemeanor citations, 17 traffic citations, 1 misdemeanor arrest, 0 gross misdemeanor arrests, 31 felony arrests (mainly narcotics associated), 1 DUI liquor arrest, 0 DUI drug arrests, 3 traffic accidents, 0 traffic fatalities, 512 medical calls (mainly small, with 10 transports to a location medical facility)– and attendance of 135,000 and 48 ejections per Insomniac Productions. RIP to this year’s one casualty, a 24-year-old male.

Not all set to let go of 2015 EDC Las Vegas memories yet? Right here is coverage– reports and picture galleries– by the Las Vegas Sun and Las Vegas Weekly.

In covering all 5 years of EDC Las Vegas, 2015 enters the record books as the favorite. Peace, love, unity and respect, certainly. #PLUR
