On Thursday, Daniell Rider shared an image of a glass vase filled with cotton stems, calling the screen “incorrect on so many levels.”
She then asked Pastime Lobby to remove the product from store shelves.
” There is nothing decorative about raw cotton,” Rider composed. “A product which was acquired at the cost of African-American servants. A little level of sensitivity goes a long way.”
The post has actually amassed more than 200,000 remarks and 88,000 reactions in simply five days.
Several commenters stated they did not find the display offensive, while some called the complaint “absurd.”
” As a black lady, I am not offended. There is beauty from ashes,” one commenter composed. “I will not allow (raw) cotton or statues for that matter, have any kind of result, especially an unfavorable one, on my life.”
Hobby Lobby has not launched a remark regarding the post.
