Lee County Constable Gary Parsons told WJHL-TV that deputies were informed a 3-year-old “wolf hybrid” attacked and whipped the woman while she lay in a bassinet.
The constable states the infant’s upper body and head were mainly injured.
” Inning accordance with the declarations, there was blood in the bassinet where the pet dog had actually assaulted the kid,” Parson’s stated. “There were very severe injuries to the upper body and the head,” Parsons said.
He states his department was reacting to a call about the mauling Wednesday early morning, but the baby was already on the way to a hospital when deputies got here. She passed away that afternoon. The sheriff says social services are looking at the two other kids in the house.
The dog was later euthanized. The sheriff states he’s contacting the commonwealth’s lawyer to see if any charges can be filed.
” I’m worried about whether that kid was protected– so the difficult part of it for me is who is in the right and who’s in the wrong– you dislike to charge moms and dads that are grieving over a child, however at the very same time you have to think about the rights of the kid,” he stated.
