( FOX5). LAS VEGAS (FOX5/AP)-. The long-mothballed unfinished Fontainebleau casino-resort on the Las Vegas Strip is arranged to open under a brand-new name in 2020. The 63-story bluish tower will be changed into The Drew Las Vegas under a collaboration between hospitality giant Marriott International and New York-based real estate company Witkoff.

” Exactly what you see there now is a skeleton of what you’re visiting in the future. That’s what people are going to remember,” Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak stated.

” These are jobs that are simply … sad,” Scott Roeben with vitalvegas.com stated. ” Everyone said (Fontainebleau) with type of a French pronunciation, it sounded absurd.”

The companies told The Associated Press ahead of the Monday announcement that the residential or commercial property will include a gambling establishment, roughly 4,000 rooms and suites, convention and meeting area, and a range of entertainment, night life, retail and dining options.

” To me, it was always a symbol of big thinking. Perhaps the timing was off, but I like anything that’s the most significant of anything or the shiniest of anything,” Roeben stated.

The site is near the Circus and SLS hotel-casinos. The high-end home will likewise be home to the Strip’s very first JW Marriott and the business’s top-end “Edition” brand.

The Drew will be among two casino tasks anticipated to open on the northern end of Strip in 2020.

” You see the shovels go to the ground in 2018 and the ribbons being cut in 2020,” Sisolak said.

” I think there’s still a lot of big question marks. Anything over a billion marks, I ‘d say just leave it as a question mark and be positive,” Roeben said.
