Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said an officer shot a guy after he stabbed two “completely random” females in west Las Vegas Friday afternoon.
The guy was shot by cops near West Spring Mountain Road and South Rainbow Boulevard, City Police said. Officer were called to the scene at around 1:14 p.m.
Cops said a woman was riding an RTC bus when the suspect stabbed her in the neck. She was able to get off the bus and search for help. The suspect got off the bus at that time likewise. He later got another female who was walking on the street, put her in a chokehold and started stabbing her. As officers got here, she was able to avoid the suspect, cops said.
He began to range from officers, equipped with a knife. Officers provided several verbal commands to stop, to put the knife down, and he didn’t. ” We attempted to take him into custody using a Taser. That was inadequate,” authorities stated.
The suspect began running south on Rainbow Boulevard, and as he was approaching an occupied RTC bus stop, officers tried to stop him, using a low-lethal shotgun, Metro Cops stated. That was likewise inadequate. “Our officers fired upon the suspect, hitting him.”
He was transferred to UMC Injury in important condition. Both females were also carried to UMC Injury and were treated for their non-life threatening injuries, cops said.
LVMPD said the stabbings were believed to be “completely random.” “There was no need to believe there was any fight in between the suspect and either of the victims.”
There were people waiting for the bus when one officer fired at the suspect. A witness shared a video of the shooting, that he caught on his cellular phone.
