Going To Artist Lecture Series Invites Christian Patterson Oct. 4

The UNLV department of art welcomes Christian Patterson to the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, for the Fall Going To Artist Lecture Series.

Christian Patterson was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and lives in New york city, New York. Pictures are the heart of his work however they are typically accompanied by illustrations, paintings, objects, video or sound in both book and exhibition form. His books consist of Redheaded Peckerwood and Bottom of the Lake. Patterson is a 2013 Guggenheim Fellow and winner of the 2015 Vevey International Photography Award. He is represented by Rose Gallery in Santa Monica and Robert Morat in Berlin.

The UNLV Checking Out Artist Lecture Series functions a diverse array of some of the most engaging artists and thinkers working in the art world today. This crucial program brings both established and emerging artists to go to the campus and discuss their operate in public lectures and to use specific critiques to our BFA and MFA trainees. This program has developed itself as a vital resource for UNLV students and the public alike. The primary mission of the UNLV Artist Lecture Series is to educate, inspire and cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation of modern art through visual discussions and discourse.

The event is complimentary and open to the general public. Parking is free.
