The storms grounded numerous flights, delaying departures and arrivals at McCarran International Airport. Palm trees began on fire and some trees arrived on top of cars, triggering damage. Numerous crashes were reported too, destructive vehicles and triggering injuries. A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect Monday night.

Shooting, crash prompt lockdown at west Vegas school


LAS VEGAS (FOX5) –

An intermediate school in the west Las Vegas Valley was put on lockdown Tuesday as authorities searched for a motorist associated with a shooting and crash.

Officer Laura Meltzer, of Las Vegas City police, said a call of the incident was available in at 10:41 a.m. in the area of Jones Boulevard and Smoke Ranch Road. Several shots were fired in between pair of cars in the area.

Among the vehicles in the occurrence supposedly struck a pole, according to Meltzer. The motorist of this car was hurried to University Medical Center with a gunshot injury. The individual’s condition was not immediately understood.

Cops were still seeking the driver in the other car involved in the shooting. Meltzer stated the vehicle being sought is a dark sport-utility vehicle.

The incident prompted a lockdown for close-by Brinley Intermediate school, Meltzer said.

A spokesperson with Clark County School District elaborated it locks down schools in the event of nearby police activity. There was no word on if anybody at the campus was influenced by the occurrence.
