. A couple’s continuous argument over prescription pills led a male to fatally stab his girlfriend and then attempt to kill himself, according to a City Police arrest report.
John Vannucci, 62, told detectives, “I lost my mind. She was evil,” inning accordance with the report. He was reserved on a count of murder.
Metro went to a house in the 1900 block of Cameron, near Decatur and Oakey boulevards, about 8:40 p.m. Friday after a neighbor reported that she couldn’t contact the victim, who was her friend, according to authorities.
Officers found Vannucci in your house with the female, who had been stabbed several times and wrapped in a comforter in the dining-room, police said.
Vannucci informed detectives he and his sweetheart, Julie Ray, had been combating since she took 120 of his prescription pain medication, which would make her “insane,” the report said.
“Vannucci was unable to offer a timeline, however specified there was an argument and he was tired of Ray talking down to him and complaining,” an officer composed. That’s when, inning accordance with Vannucci, he “lost his mind” and got 2 knives, stabbing Ray to death, cops stated.
After the attack, Vannucci took “a great deal of his medication tablets” due to the fact that “he wanted to pass away, too, due to the fact that he had hurt somebody,” he told detectives, inning accordance with the report.
Vannucci was taken to University Medical Center and consequently reserved at the Clark County Detention Center, police said. He was being held on a $250,000 bail.
He’s next scheduled to appear in court April 3, jail logs show.
