Christmas tree recycling underway in Las Vegas location

Officials have launched an annual Christmas tree recycling drive in Southern Nevada.

Trees are being accepted at more than 30 drop-off areas from Boulder City to Summerlin, and Southern Highlands to North Las Vegas.

Sites consist of many local parks and Lowes stores.

The program goes through Jan. 15.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the Springs Preserve host the annual effort, which began in 2001.

Sponsors state it gathered more than 15,000 trees last year.

Program planner Tara Pike-Nordstrom at UNLV says trees are reduced to mulch for landscaping and dust control.

Individuals are asked to eliminate anything that isn’t really natural from the tree, including lights, wire, tinsel, accessories, nails and tree stands.

Blanco said he thinks a 10-acre equipment found down a dirt roadway was the last place his friend was headed before he disappeared. He was supposed to have shown the apartment to customers. No one knows who those customers are.
