A Metro officer has been under investigation for shooting and eliminating an animal golden retriever. LAS VEGAS( FOX5)- An officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Cops Department has
been under investigation after shooting and killing a golden retriever last Friday near Nellis Blvd and Gold Mine Road. Some witnesses stated the canine” viciously assaulted” a dachshund before he was shot, but animal control officers stated they did not notice any injuries to the smaller canine.
Another witness stated she thinks the officer, “Matt,” was drinking however was not evaluated by his coworkers when they showed up to examine. No further details has actually been offered from Metro Authorities.
The owner of the golden retriever, Maureen Schorn, described “Moto” as extremely calm and loving.
” It’s totally wrong. I’m hearing words like ‘viciously attacked.’ That was not in his nature whatsoever,” she stated. “Your house is bare, empty without him.”
Schorn dealt with Moto and the golden retriever’s mom and sibling, Chloe and Abby. She described Moto as the “male of the home.” On Thursday, she said the entire household was distressed.
” He did not bite. He did not bite anyone. I know that,” Schorn said. “I know there’s no damage at all on that little dog that they declare was ‘viciously assaulted.'”
Schorn said the daughter of a family good friend was strolling the golden retriever when the little lady lost control of Moto’s leash. The off-duty officer shot Moto twice in the back.
” If he’s afraid of dogs, I do not believe he must carry a weapon … He killed my kid. He’s my member of the family. He’s my everything,” Schorn said. “I believe he’s trigger happy. Just shooting out like that? There were a couple of kids around!”
The owner stated she was still aiming to determine exactly what her options are. She stated at least one lawyer informed her she might not have a case due to the fact that the little lady strolling Moto was not keeping the leash at the time of the shooting.
