Teen killed in ATV crash near east Las Vegas determined

The Clark County Coroner identified 16-year-old Alejandro Renteria as the passenger who passed away after an all-terrain vehicle crashed into a ditch near east Las Vegas Sunday night. Las Vegas Metropolitan Cops stated the crash occurred at 8:41 p.m. on Kodachrome Roadway, slightly north of South Hollywood Boulevard.

Evidence at the scene, in addition to witness statement, suggested that a 2016 Cam-am ATV was heading in a northwestern direction near Hollywood Boulevard, authorities said.

The ATV approached a large ditch and captured air, according to police. The ATV reversed and ejected the motorist and Renteria before stopping at the bottom of the hole.

Police stated the motorist and Renteria of the ATV were transported to Daybreak Healthcare facility Trauma. Renteria was pronounced dead by health center personnel.

The chauffeur of the ATV, a 15-year-old lady, was reported to have moderate injuries.

The motorist did not show any indications of being impaired, authorities said.

According to police, Renteria’s death marked the sixty-sixth traffic-related casualty in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2018.

The accident stays under examination by Metro’s Crash Examination Area.
