UNLV Dance is happy to present its biennial concert commemorating the longstanding collaboration with Korea National Sport University (KNSU) – Together 7 – at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Judy Bayley Theatre. In 2006, UNLV Dance partnered with KNSU department of dance to produce Together, a concert of shared dance work. Over the past 12 years an additional 6 concerts developed.
The task enables 20 dance majors from KNSU to take a trip to Las Vegas, partner with UNLV Dance, and provide a show of dance operates at the Judy Bayley Theatre. While at UNLV, there is an exciting week of master classes and a possibility to see how the phenomenon of dance manifests itself in each country. When the show ends, the journey continues. Twenty UNLV Dance majors travel to Seoul, South Korea, and provide the performance again. They continue to experience the dance of Korea, and bask in its rich cultural offerings.
UNLV Dance has a long tradition of global travel that expands the visual lives of young artists and absolutely shows that artists are citizens of the world, that the world needs art, and that dance is a powerful language that goes beyond words and borders.
Together 7 features an exciting collective program of modern-day, jazz, ballet, and standard Korean dance with choreography by UNLV Dance faculty (Cathy Allen, Victoria Dale, Richard Havey, Louis Kavouras, and Dolly Kelepecz-Momot) and professors from KNSU (James Jeon, Kim Hyun Nam, and Baek Hyun Quickly). Together 7 will include a special efficiency by College of Fine Arts Dean Nancy J. Uscher of UNLV Dance composer Beth Mehocic’s “Interactions,” and lighting by brand-new UNLV Dance design expert Michael Jarett.
