UNLV Opera presents the effervescent operetta Pass away Fledermaus at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 and 9 in the Dr. Arturo Rando-Grillot Recital Hall of the Beam Music Center. The long time audience preferred by Johann Strauss II will be sung in English.
Keri Rusthoi and Mariah Wilcox star as Rosalinda opposite Aldo Perrelli and Alex Rate as Eisenstein. Nichole Jarlson and Dominique Mendez play Adele, Adonis Abuyen and Phillip Harris are Falke, while Rabuel Aviles and Erin Gonzalez depict Prince Orlofsky. Christopher Martin and Ranon Pador alternate as Alfred, with Emily Clements and Hunter Rose Turner as Sally. Richard Hodges as Frank, Kurt Sedlmeir as Frosch, and Daveon Bolden as Dr. Blind complete the cast. Jae Ahn-Benton is the pianist while conductor professor David Weiller leads the UNLV Chamber Chorale. Stage director professor Linda Lister has inserted excerpts from other operettas within the popular Strauss waltzes to add much more levity and frivolity to Fledermaus, already filled with champagne and silliness.
Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors/military/faculty/ staff, and complimentary with Student ID. Call the UNLV Carrying out Arts Center box office at 702-895-ARTS (2787) or visit the box office online.
