MARION COUNTY, Fla. (Meredith/WFTS)– A Florida woman was detained on Tuesday after deputies state six kids in her care were residing in some of the worst living conditions they have actually ever seen.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies apprehended Sara Nicole Resko, 30, after some of the kids were found wandering in the street on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.
Deputies say that a 2-year-old woman and a 4-year-old young boy were found wandering in the road alone. The little girl was not outfitted from the waist down and a witness supplied a towel to the child so she might conceal. Deputies say they right away saw that both children were infested with lice and covered with open sores.
The little lady remained in worse condition than the little young boy, having several open sores on her arms, legs, chest, back, feet and face, deputies say.
While deputies were attempting to determine where the 2 kids originated from, they saw more kids riding bicycles down the roadway, later determined as the siblings of the two and 4-year-old.
These children, ages 6, 8, 9 and 13, informed deputies that Resko had left them alone at the home while she was at work.
Deputies went into the house and discovered that there was no running water, no food and no electrical power. The flooring was covered in pet feces and the house was plagued with flies. The home remained in total disarray and the children were only offered bed mattress on the flooring without any linens to sleep on, deputies say. All of the kids had open sores and louse on them also.
After deputies had actually been on scene for an hour and a half, Resko finally got to the house. She told deputies that she had actually just been gone for a few minutes, however quickly started altering her story once deputies told her the length of time they had existed examining.
MCSO states that upon more evaluation of Resko’s history, deputies discovered 2 previously reported events where the children had actually been left unsupervised. The Department of Kid and Families reacted to an occurrence on February 2, and implemented a guidance strategy with Resko, who was advised to not permit the 13-year-old to babysit the other children anymore.
Deputies eventually determined that Resko failed on numerous events to offer care and guidance for these kids. DCF responded and took custody of the six children. Resko was apprehended and accuseded of six counts of Child Disregard.
Resko is being hung on a $12,000 bond.
