. The chauffeur of a pickup was detained on a DUI count after he ran a traffic signal early Sunday and struck a motorcycle, eliminating the rider, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist was turning left from the northbound Interstate 15 off-ramp at Flamingo Road when the pickup ran a traffic signal and hit the bike, which collided with a taxi, the patrol said.
The motorcyclist, Keith Welshiemer, 52, of Las Vegas was noticable dead at University Medical Center, the patrol said.
The motorist of the pickup, Juan C. Valtierrez, 47, was treated for minor injuries and launched, the patrol said.
Valtierrez was reserved at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of DUI-alcohol, reckless driving leading to death or significant physical harm, failure to comply with a traffic control gadget, failure to render help, withstanding a public officer, failure to decrease speed or use due care, being a citizen with non-Nevada motorist’s license and registration, and driving with a suspended driver’s license, the patrol stated.
