Marquee Dayclub has compartments. It’s smaller sized than the Strip’s pool megaclubs and feels more intimate and unique than others because of these playful areas. There are those lavish cabanas along the side with their own glass-lined mini-pools. There’s the rowdy pool by the back bar, sometimes more active than the dancefloor. There’s the bubbling social nook of the bar behind the stage. There are plush booths in the middle, constantly crowded with party individuals taking a snack break. And there are the daybeds in the waterfall pool just off the DJ booth, where an entirely different party may be going on.
The outcome of all these differing environments is a festival-inspired experience– a lot going on in a little area– and those vibes have actually been emphasized by this summer’s Beatwave Sundays celebration. Inviting for residents and visitors alike and filled with deep house, chill electronica and tropical house sounds, the weekly groove session took a few weeks off throughout EDC Week and Memorial Day Weekend but returned Sunday with a dynamic set from resident Jason Lema and a crowd of happy people unwinding, recovering and re-animating.
Swiss tech-house and indie dance producer Nora En Pure returns to Beatwave this weekend, followed by increasing Belgian star Felix De Laet, aka Lost Frequencies, on June 17. Other acts previously appearing here this season and returning later this summer consist of Spacebyrdz, Thomas Jack and Sam Feldt.
Marquee found the ideal formula for its distinct daylife venue a very long time back. With Beatwave Sundays, it has located the happy medium between lazy summer swimming pool time and the massive, turned-up parties other clubs push to close out the weekend with a big bang. It’s the right vibe and absolutely adjustable.
BEATWAVE SUNDAYS WITH NORA EN PURE AT MARQUEE DAYCLUB June 10, 11 a.m., $23-$33. Cosmopolitan, 702-333-9000.
